The Help

Readers of contemporary and popular fiction may already be familiar with Kathryn Stockett’s novel The Help, which is currently in its 55th week on the New York Times Hardcover Fiction Bestsellers list. The story, set in Mississippi in the 1960s, brings together a group of women from opposite sides of the class and race divide. It is a compelling, gripping story; and it is also in production to become a movie in 2011. The novel is currently part of WCU’s Leisure Reading collection, as well as being available in the collections at ASU and UNC-A.
